Rules by document type#
| Document | Validity period |
|---|---|
| Student documents generated from a template | 3 months from the issue date. Fixed IVQA rule, not configurable. |
| Student documents uploaded as files | No period by default. |
| Certificates and diplomas uploaded on Diplom and Certificate | No period by default. |
| Institution Documents | The Effective from / Valid until dates you set, if any. Unset means valid until revoked. |
| Student badges and student QR codes | No period; they follow the student's registry status. |
How EXPIRED is decided#
IVQA compares the dates with the current time at each verification. There is no batch process and no stored "expired" flag to wait for: the day after the end date, the public page shows EXPIRED with the end date. Before an Effective from date, it shows NOT YET VALID.
The dates of a template document are shown in the Validity column of the Student documents table.
What the verifier sees#
The red EXPIRED banner and the end date; no holder details. See Expired credential.
When a document expires#
- If a current attestation is needed, issue a new document. It has a new public ID and QR code and its own 3-month period. The expired one stays expired. See Regenerate, reprint or renew a document.
- For an Institution Document, you can instead edit its validity period.
- You do not need to revoke an expired document: it already fails verification. Revoke it only if you want the page to say REVOKED rather than EXPIRED.
