This article explains how documents expire in IVQA and how to set or change a validity period.

Introduction#

A document can have a validity period. Before the Effective from date the verification page shows NOT YET VALID; after the Valid until date it shows EXPIRED. IVQA checks the dates each time the page is opened, so nothing needs to be scheduled.

A. Which documents have a validity period#

  • Student documents generated from a template are valid for 3 months from the issue date. This is a fixed rule

  • Employee documents use the validity you choose: Always valid, or a Period with dates

  • Institution documents and company documents use the period you set in Set validity period, if any

  • Uploaded certificates and diplomas have no validity period unless you set one

B. Change a validity period#

  • Open the document in Employee documents, Institution Documents or Company Documents

  • Click Set validity period

  • Choose Always valid, or enter new Effective from and Valid until dates

  • Save

The change applies to the verification page immediately. The QR Code does not change.

C. When a document has expired#

  • To issue a current document, create a new one. It gets a new QR Code

  • To make the verification page say REVOKED instead of EXPIRED, revoke the old document

Note: An expired document already fails verification. You do not need to revoke it.
