This article explains what a verifier sees after scanning an IVQA QR Code, and how to verify a document without scanning.

Introduction#

The QR Code on a document opens its verification page on check.ivqa.org. No account or app is needed; any phone camera works. The page reads the current status of the document every time it is opened, so a document that was revoked yesterday shows REVOKED today, even on an old printout.

A. What the page shows#

[SCREENSHOT REQUIRED]

check.ivqa.org → verification page

A verification page showing the VALID banner and the document details

expected file: public/images/verification/public-page-valid.png

  • A large status banner: VALID, EXPIRED, NOT YET VALID, REVOKED or NOT FOUND

  • For a valid document: the document type, the institution or company, the student or employee and their UID, the public ID, the issue date and, for students, the program and level

  • Signed QR: OK when the page was opened from a genuine IVQA QR Code

  • For a revoked document: only the banner and the reason given by the organization

The page never shows email addresses, phone numbers, identification numbers or the document file.

B. The statuses#

  • VALID: the organization recognizes the document and it is within its validity dates

  • NOT YET VALID: the document has an effective date in the future

  • EXPIRED: the validity end date has passed

  • REVOKED: the organization withdrew the document

  • NOT FOUND: no published document matches the code. A document that is still a draft answers NOT FOUND

C. Verify without scanning#

  • Go to check.ivqa.org

  • Choose the type: Certificate & Diploma (codes IVQA-CER-… and IVQA-DIP-…), Document (IVQA-DOC-…), E-Card (Student UID) or Professional Badges (Employee UID)

  • Type the code printed on the document and submit
